Summary
The Lesotho education system has undergone several curriculum changes and reforms with the aim of making education more relevant, accessible, efficient and of best quality for all. Most notably is the current curriculum reform called Curriculum and and Assessment Policy 2009 (CAP). Among others, CAP espouses a learner-centered approach to teaching and learning. However, the implementation of this new curriculum has neglected the needs of students in the rural areas who lack resources like books and internet connection. To address this issue, the paper therefore proposes that the Lesotho Ministry of Education and Training provides these resources to rural schools to ensure that all students have equal access to quality education. By so doing, the implementation of the new curriculum can be more effective in improving performance of rural schools.
