The lack of reliable weather forecasting in Africa, where most of its 1.3 billion people live with little advance knowledge of weather conditions, has severe consequences, including human casualties and substantial economic losses. The first Africa Climate Summit in Kenya highlighted the urgent need for significant investment in climate change adaptation, particularly in improving weather forecasting capabilities. Africa's challenges in addressing climate change include a dearth of data collection infrastructure, with just 37 radar facilities for tracking weather across the entire continent, compared to hundreds in Europe and North America. This deficiency hampers decision-making in critical sectors such as agriculture and disaster preparedness.
