Summary
In the ancient times in most countries around the world, priority was given to male children and they were given an opportunity to go to school while girls stayed at home and performed household chores as well as taking care of their family members. Even though times have changed and education has become one of the fundamental human rights, an estimated number of 130 million girls still do not have access to education worldwide. Across Africa, about 28 million gets particularly between the ages of 6 and 15 are not in school. This does not only negatively affect the lives of those girls but also their families and communities. It is very essential that organizations work together to ensure that girls get educated as more educated girls tend to get married at older ages, and are more likely to lead healthy and productive lives. They are also likely to get higher paying jobs thus earn higher incomes and build better futures for themselves and their families. Getting girls educated also reduces inequality as both girls and boys can have access to opportunities.
