SUMMARY
The evolution of systems over time has portrayed a scenario where our ways of living are impacted and intertwined with the changing circumstances surrounding us. The adoption of newer changes is often accompanied by either positive or negative impacts on our lives, some of which are predictable and others beyond our existing knowledge. Such change can be witnessed in the formation of diverse family settings and with the adoption of newer parenting styles, such as single-parent households, in contrast to the initially nuclear families. Children born into single-parent households are often associated with several forms of juvenile delinquency, such as theft, involvement in the illicit drug trade, and defiance of laws set up by different law enforcers. Interesting, conflicting evidence and several gaps in the available publications blur our complete understanding of the association between single-parent lead households and juvenile delinquency. Single-parent households are often blamed for raising delinquent children in our societies, despite the lack of concrete evidence to prove this fact. Thus, there is a need for efforts directed towards creating awareness about these subjects.
