Child labor is a persistent issue in Nepal, despite global efforts to combat it. Nepal still has over a million children, aged between 5 and 17, engaged in labor, with more than 200,000 involved in hazardous work, primarily in the agricultural sector. This article explores the impact of child labor in Nepal, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has exacerbated this problem. It also discusses the importance of cash transfers and social protection programs in preventing child labor and ensuring children's rights are upheld.
