Algeria in struggle with drought and water scarcity due to limited rainfall over the past decade. To address this issue, Algeria plans to increase the number of seawater desalination plants to 19 by 2024 as part of its National Water Strategy. The agricultural sector, heavily reliant on rainwater for grain cultivation, faces challenges from rising temperatures and reduced rainfall. Despite existing dams and desalination plants, a previous drought caused declining water levels, highlighting the importance of comprehensive water resource management. Algeria is also implementing a groundwater desalination program to combat water scarcity in the southern states.
