A Catholic priest Fr. Dominic Alinga of Iriiri Catholic Parish in Napak District has been arrested for the stabbing of a 30-year-old male employee of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Ngorok John Bosco who has been working in Domestic tax Department at Entebbe International Airport.
It is reported that on August 3rd, Fr. Dominic Alinga visited Ngorok John Bosco at his home and requested the deceased to drive him to Entebbe.
As they were almost reaching UN Base in Entebbe, along the road from Kisoro to Entebbe International Airport Fr. Dominic Alinga reportedly picked a sharp knife and stabbed the Ngorok John Bosco several times.
It is alleged that when the deceased first attempted to escape, when he jumped on a Bodaboda, the accused first knocked them down with the 27-year-old Bodaboda who was carrying him before he took off. Good Samaritans then came and rushed the two to the Hospital. The rider Abigaba, a resident of Katabi Town Council in Wakiso District, sustained minor injuries that were treated and he was sent home immediately.
Despite being rushed to Grade B Hospital, he was pronounced dead within 30 minutes. The deceased was stabbed severally at the face and neck. Before he died, he was able to tell his mother on phone that he was stabbed by Fr. Dominic Alinga over his own money.
The deceased was killed by the accused because he demanded repayment of his loan amounting to 11 million Ugandan shilling ($2,953 USD) that the accused was owning him.
However, a recorded statement from Alinga circulating on social media gives a very different detail about his version of events. In the audio, Alinga admitted to meeting the deceased in Entebbe for a money transaction relating to land. Alinga claims that he noticed that the money the deceased had was counterfeit hence causing an argument.
The accused alleged that the deceased became aggressive, threatening him with a knife inside the car. The accused reported that the deceased then attacked him and in the struggle the deceased ended up stabbing himself. The accused maintained his innocence saying that he acted in self-defence.
Fr, Dominic also has a history of suspension by his bishop on allegations of theft of offertory worth six million Ugandan shillings ($1,610 USD).
The two were reportedly close friends from childhood until the deceased met his death through a long-time friend whom he looked at as his own family
