SUMMERY

Child marriage is a severe form of child abuse, particularly affecting young girls married to older men in traditional societies and religious countries. This practice, driven by cultural norms, patriarchal values, poverty, and lack of education deprives children of their rights and exposes them to significant physical and psychological harm. While progress has been made globally in reducing child marriage rates, it remains a concerning issue, particularly in regions like sub-Saharan Africa. Legal ambiguities and historical context further complicate addressing this profoundly ingrained problem.
