SUMMARY

In a country so agriculturally rich, Karamoja region suffered a whooping over 2000 deaths from hunger in 2022. This resulted from extreme effects of extensively long dry spells leading to severe cases of hunger making locals resort to leaves and wild fruits for survival. Recent analysis reports all 9 districts of the region suffer severe food insecurity and excessive cases of severe malnutrition are noted in all age groups. Such underscores the urgent need to provide food and livelihood assistance to the populations to save lives and livelihoods.
