“History” is Now: Native American Rights in the United States

This article gives an overview of the prominent narratives of U.S. history that are taught in schools and contrasts it with actual history. It details how U.S. governmental policies of the past continue in the present day in new and insidious forms that continue to hurt Native communities. Specifically focusing on the rights of Native American women, this article aims to make visible those who are so often ignored and misrepresented.
