In Uganda, HIV/AIDS is recognized as a grave public health and social development concern. Fueled by poverty, gender inequality and lack of information and prevention services, HIV and AIDS-related stigma has led to many of those infected and affected withdrawing from social contact with others altogether, such people almost inevitably have more difficulty accessing health-promotion activities, the result being poorer mental and physical health for those affected.
