SUMMARY The outbreak of Covid-19 has generated a global crisis which extends beyond its direct implications on the well-being of the population. The pandemic and the subsequent containment measures have taken a toll on the social determinants of health (SDH), the non-medical elements that impact health outcomes. However, the pandemic has had repercussions that go beyond the immediate effects on health, building on existing inequalities.
