Undocumented immigrants in the United States are easily exploited because of the precarity of their situation. They are forced into jobs in the service industry where they work long hours for low pay. Oftentimes they are in debt to whomever brought them into the country which creates a type of modern slavery. This article discusses economic and social structures that enable these human rights abuses and suggests solutions to help those who are suffering.
