On Monday, a statement was issued by the civil rights group of The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan justifying their behavior for holding the security forces responsible for the recent tragic attack the valley had faced. The statement read, “It was callous and short-sighted to have downplayed the threat from militants given residents’ growing protests and calls for security. An influential anti-Taliban tribal leader and five other people were killed in Kot Katai village of Swat in a bomb blast last month. Until 2009, Swat was a major TTP stronghold when the Pakistani military drove the armed group’s fighters out. The recent surge in violence is a result of failed peace talks between TTP and Pakistan’s security forces.
