SUMMARY
A report by the United Nations Children's Fund indicates that more than 70% of Sao Tome children are poor and "show greater vulnerability in terms of social protection".
A report by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) indicates that more than 70% of Sao Tome children are poor and “show greater vulnerability in terms of social protection”.
The document was released this Thursday by the deputy representative of UNICEF for São Tomé and Príncipe, Ainhoa Jaureguieitia, who advanced three aspects of this document as “the most worrying”.
“The first is the protection of children from violence, sexual abuse, neglect, abandonment and child labour. The second aspect is sanitation. A large number of children and their families still relieve themselves outdoors and the third aspect is the area of nutrition. There is a very high level of anemia”, said Ainhoa Jaureguieitia.
