This article aims to analyse the movement of Venezuelan refugees throughout the globe but giving focusing on Latin-American. Migration movements have been driven by the search for better living conditions and geopolitical factors. However, in contemporary times, the securitization of migration has led to more restrictive policies, considering migrants as potential threats.
The Venezuelan refugee crisis brings about the consequences of securitization, with neighboring countries receiving a significant influx of migrants. Unfortunately, this has resulted in xenophobia, discriminatory practices, and limited access to essential services. These actions contradict international human rights principles, including the right to seek asylum. Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive approaches that prioritize the protection and inclusion of refugees, while combating xenophobia. It is crucial to uphold human rights conventions and adopt compassionate and equitable policies toward migrants. By doing so, societies can demonstrate a commitment to human rights and provide a more empathetic response to the plight of refugees forced to flee their countries due to crises such as the one in Venezuela.
