SUMMARY
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the world had witnessed the devastating impacts of disease spread such as the white plague, Spanish flu, the black death ,Lues, AIDS and plague of Athens. Similar to the earlier times, during COVID-19 spread, several mechanism of survival such as isolation were adopted and lessons learnt at the hand of massive lives lost due to several reasons such as negligence or deliberate defiance of polices implemented. As the world rushed to stabilize its economies, contain the virus and save its populations, the members of our society categorized as vulnerable categories such as children required stricter safeguarding measures, guidance and psychological support yet were at many times neglected, exploited or victimized. A scenario of children strolling around streets and trading during COVID-19 spread was witnessed across several low and middle income countries. One wonders why most of these children did not adhere to polices put in place by authorities such as the need to wear masks and why the situation of these children went unnoticed by agencies that were trying to contain the spread of COVID-19.
