The increase of antibiotic resistance represents a major threat to modern medicine. This phenomenon leads to a surge of bacterial infections difficult or impossible to treat. As a result, the need for innovative therapeutic strategies becomes progressively urgent. Phage therapy, a technique that uses bacteriophages to selectively target and eliminate bacterial infections, emerges as a promising alternative. This article assesses the potential of phage therapy as a substitute to antibiotics, particularly in the context of escalating antibiotic resistance.
