SUMMARY
The concern of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, based in Geneve – Switzerland, was expressed in a report that reflects on the events that took place in the country on November 25, 2022, more specifically in the barracks on the hill.Four civilians were killed after detention and acts of torture. The United Nations considers that if the allegations are confirmed, the government of São Tomé and Príncipe will have violated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. In addition to the arbitrary arrests and summary executions, the team of UN experts contests and presents as a violation of universal rights the way in which the 4 civilians were allegedly buried in the dead of night.
