The medical profession the world over is a coveted and respected one since the beginning of time. This is a profession that is not only a hard path to follow but one that is always lacking to meet the needs of the people especially in countries with a growing young population.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, Uganda is a country with a low patient to doctor ratio of 1:25 000 which is well below the recommended WHO ratio of 1:1000.
While these statistics stand, prospective medical interns 2023/2024, after successful completion of their degrees and acquisition of provisional licenses are still unsure of what the outcome of the decisions concerning the required 1 year of internship holds for them.
