Tensions in Senegal ahead of presidential elections.
Sénégal is marques by tensions due to the upcoming presidential elections. The current outgoing president Mr Macky Sall is for the moment severely decried by the opposition who strongly wishes that he be replaced at the end of his current mandate, in the next presidential election in 2024. The political game is very tense between the ruling party and the opposing parties dominated by the part of the presidential candidate Ousmane sonko "yewi askan wi" and the "walu Sénégal" coalition whose leader is the former president of the republic Abdoulaye Wade. During the elections to, the presidency of the national assembly on September 12, 2022 the opposition deputies did not fail to show their disagreement with the deputies of the ruling party to the point that clashes took place within the parliamentary hémicycle between the two parties. The security forces had to intervene to ease the tension and maintain order so that the votes could continue on the same day.
Following this the new president of the national assembly, Mister Amadou Dame Diop, Mayor of Richard Toll, pharmacist by profession and founding member of the alliance for the republic ( APR) was elected by the majority. However, the population deeply deplores these acts of violence and the lack of civility shown by some members of Parliament and hopes that they will return to more reasonable attitudes in order to guarantee peace and democracy in the country.
