SUMMARY
Iran has long been a destination for Afghan migrants, hosting a significant portion of this population. However, the exact number of Afghan refugees residing in Iran remains uncertain due to many being undocumented. Moreover, the recent rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan has led to a surge in Afghan nationals seeking refuge in Iran. This lack of accurate identification and statistics poses the first challenge, primarily affecting the refugees themselves, as they are unable to access healthcare and education services. If these statistics are accurate, one-fifth of Afghanistan's population currently resides in Iran.
