THE PERSISTENT CHALLENGE OF POVERTY IN NAMIBIA: A GROWING CONCERN

Namibia, a nation known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, faces a significant challenge in the form of poverty. Despite being classified as an upper-middle-income country, the stark reality is that a large portion of its population continues to live in extreme poverty. Recent projections indicate that the number of people living in extreme poverty is set to increase, peaking at approximately 2.12 million by 2030 before gradually declining. By 2043, this number is expected to reduce to 1.8 million, constituting 47% of the population. These figures highlight the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to address poverty and improve the living conditions of vulnerable communities across the country.
