Summary

15th August 2021, Black Day for Afghanistan, American Troops leave the Afghan’s State to fulfil the will of President Joe Biden. Keeping the American army in Afghanistan was intended to strengthen the Afghan troops, and to create a government that could stand up to the Taliban government. Since their departure, Afghanistan has enjoyed an escalation in its modernisation and progress. This came to a halt two years ago when the Taliban, without much violence, took back executive, legislative and judicial power. What is most compromised is the guarantee of rights for every woman and child belonging to Afghan society who are denied fundamental rights such as freedom of speech, association and education. What we are seeing is gender apartheid, in which women are the protagonists. How has the situation changed two years on?
