Summary
There are millions of live births, stillbirths, or abortions as a result of pregnancies every year. About 42 million pregnancies were aborted in 2003, of which 20 million were unsafe. Due to a number of obstacles, such as the scarcity of hospitals in developing nations, cultural norms, and insufficient government services, unsafe abortions continue. Cultural stigma and healthcare neglect persist despite international efforts to provide safe post-abortion care. To ensure safe access to abortions and safeguard women's health, immediate action is needed.
