Unveiling Hidden Stories: How African Women Become Sex Slaves in India

SUMMARY
Despite the abolishment of the slave trade in the 1800s, there seems to be a rise of more modernized slave traits around the world, and the poorest are at a higher risk of being adversely affected. It is reported that recently there is a very high number of East African women who are lured into organized sex trafficking systems from their homeland to Asia, specifically India, promising them good-paying jobs but, they are only struck by reality once they learn that they have signed a debt bondage which the only easy way out is through sex work against their will. For a robust understanding of how African women are easily tracked into this scam, we look at the story of a sex-traffic survivor, Grace Mwangangi from Kenya.
