Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth at all its levels, from genes to ecosystems. It includes the number of different species, the variety within species, and the variety of ecosystems. Biodiversity is essential for life on Earth. It provides us with vital resources including food and water. It also helps the climate thrive and helps protect against natural disasters.

However, biodiversity is under threat from human activities. Overexploitation, habitat loss, pollution, and climate change are all driving species to extinction. If we do not take action to conserve biodiversity, we risk losing many of the benefits it provides.
