Summary
Human trafficking is a widespread issue that has goes unnoticed far too often. It involves the exploitation of individuals for the gain of traffickers. The United Nations has categorized the crime it into three elements: the act, means, and purpose. Traffickers use a variety of strategies and methods to lure in victims, such as social media deception or exploiting vulnerability. They then coerce victims into exploitation, which can be a variety of things ranging from sexual exploitation to forced labour. Combating this issue necessitates raising awareness and educating people on the tell-tale signs of trafficking. Reporting suspicions is key to preventing this crime and potentially saving lives.
