In the epoch of digitalization, the rapidly transforming world has observed the superior impact of social media in sculpting the sociopolitical landscape. Driven by complex interactions and global connection social media has become a significant factor in influencing societal dynamics. A deep dive into the Ethiopian scenario presents an intriguing mirror reflecting the global dichotomy faced by our sociopolitical predicaments. In the case of Ethiopia, digital platforms have served as powerful tools for societal movements, enabling collective action towards social justice. However, these very same digital spaces have also become fertile grounds for the spread of political hate speech, inciting violence and killings. Therefore, its role in sociopolitical sphere is dual-fold and calls for stringent regulations to minimize negative implications.
