SUMMARY

Since the days of Old Testament, this bacteria existed though in different forms causing deformities and making people neglected without care. With advancement in technology it was isolated by Dr Steven Koch about 141 years ago. Unlike covid 19, this bacteria has become a global epidemic being ranked the 8th leading cause of death in low income countries according to WHO. In Uganda tuberculosis was declared a public health emergency with karamoja region being the most affected with only 5 out of 10 people completing treatment and only 3 out of 10 curing in 2019.This disease has so many myth, including being termed for the poor, this is because of its high prevalence in poor communities.
