Gender Equality is Number 5 of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. Gender equality is the right of all people, regardless of their sex or gender, to be treated equally. This means that they should have the same opportunities and rights, and that they should not be discriminated against on the basis of their sex or gender.

Gender equality is a human right because it is essential for the full and equal participation of all people in society. When women and girls are denied their rights, it not only affects them individually, but it also holds back entire societies.
