Why was Female Genital Mutilation/ Female Circumcision criminalised?

A woman who is not circumcised can never get a partner for marriage amongst the Sabiny and does not deserve respect. It comprises all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genital, or other injury to the female genital organs.
