Will there be an end to honour killings?

Author: Numra Ghafoor

Source : Selby (2016)

Honour killings have been a notorious tragedy that has continued for centuries. Many cultures view honour killing as a renowned act which gives them the power to oppress women. Honour killings are often justified by placing the blame on the victim. Unfortunately the dire reality is that some cultures view honour killings as the norm and triumph the act as a defence of their self respect and image. The lack of education has resulted in a breeding ground for misogyny and hate against women. This ideology has endangered the lives of many women across the world as they become extremely vulnerable and helpless at the hands of patriarchy.
